Modify Developed Source Code (Extension)

Posted on by 3,480

Hi:

If a developer creates an extension (source code) for Business Central, contact information on that developer has been lost, and the code needs to be modified in case Business Central is ever upgraded, would the code need to be opened in Visual Studio Code and Application Language utilized to conduct such a modification?

Are there any published guidelines, on such a process?

Thanks!

John

Hi, Yes, but if you don't have the source code, You can try to download from environment. But please note that not all extension can be downloaded, developers can set download permissions during development.
In addition, the downloaded source code cannot be used directly and needs to be sorted out.

Yes that is the method. Having the source code is often hurdle number 1. Anything after that is simple enough with know how. Plenty of related links from this page to check out: docs.microsoft.com/.../devenv-get-started
