SharePoint Integration with Adxstudio Portals 8.x (Microsoft Dynamics CRM Portals Add-on)

Hi,

I am trying to expose SharePoint document that I ave on my Dynamics CRM 2016 Online form onto Adxstudio Portals 8.x (Microsoft Dynamics CRM Portals Add-on) entity form.

I followed the steps mentioned below to setup the integration.

https://community.adxstudio.com/products/adxstudio-portals/documentation/configuration-guide/customization-tools/sharepoint-document-library/

However on my Adx form I am getting the below error. "Error completing request. Internal Server Error"

Also I receive an error when I try to upload a document: "The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state."

Could anyone help me out on how to set this up and get it working.

P.S. I am on the new Microsoft CRM Portals 8.0 (Online) and not the AdxStudio 7.x. So I do not have access to Portal code or web.config files

Thanks a lot for your help guys

- Manoj

    Hi Microsoft CRM Portals team,

I have tried following another blog - [View:https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/microsoftdynamicscrmsolutions/archive/2016/08/17/crm-portal-and-sharepoint-integration:750:50]

But met the same outcome as Manoj. I too get Error completing request. Internal Server Error

Does Sharepoint integration work for CRM online and Dynamics CRM Portals online?

Can this error be linked to Sharepoint settings?

e.g Do we need to enable a particular user (e.g. SYSTEM user that portal uses to create documents in Sharepoint)

or is it linked to file path more than 128 characters

Really shooting the dark here as there is no access to the error trace.

    Please help.

    Hi Manoj

Were you able to solve the issue? I am facing the same error message in CRM Portal 8.0 while displaying the SharePoint Documents.

Hi Bilal -  No we raised the issue with Microsoft and they came back saying that it does not support exposing SharePoint documents on CRM Portal 8.0 as of now due to security implications.

    Hi,

could it be the problem that the portal user is connected to an CRM contact and this contact has no permissions to view documents in SharePoint? We are just at the beginning of our testing phase but that sounds logical to me. On the ADX Studio help pages there is something mentioned of web.config file where you have to add the SharePoint URL and credentials but you  can't edit this file when you are online right? See this page: community.adxstudio.com/.../sharepoint-connection-string

It would be good to get some assistance on that.

    Hi Manoj,

Third-party CTI solutions can link your CRM and phone, even if they're from different companies. Our company, Tenfold, offers such service, and also has a click to dial feature similar to what you are asking here. Here are the integrations available for MS Dynamics CRM: www.tenfold.com/.../dynamics

Have you looked at this blog http://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/microsoftdynamicscrmsolutions/archive/2016/08/17/crm-portal-and-sharepoint-integration?

I was reasonably certain this was not supported and just got confirmation this it is in fact not currently support in v8 regardless of the information in the article above. Unfortunately the authentication mechanism used by the CRM Portal is not currently supported by Sharepoint.

Craig - just so I'm clear.  Currently when we are dealing with SharePoint online and CRM portals 8.x (online portal), we cannot expose documents stored on SharePoint?

You are correct. SharePoint is not supported with CRM Portals. As I understand it the primary issue is the server to server (s2s) authentication, SharePoint cannot currently support the implementation being used by CRM Portals. I expect at some point this will become a feature but haven't heard any timelines to date.

I also tried integrating Sharepoint document in D365 Online Portal 8.3 version and getting below error

"Error completing request. Internal Server Error"
