Hello,
1. Service Order Lines:
Purpose: Used to add specific details directly into a Service Order (like parts, labor, and service tasks). If you know exactly what needs to be done, which resource will be work on it and what item is used as replacement part for the service then you can enter the details directly without Service item/order Worksheet.
For example, you create a service order to fix a printer and directly add the required parts (toner) and Resource hours on the service order lines.
2. Service Order Worksheet:
Purpose: Works like a draft workspace to prepare or review service lines before adding them to the actual service order. If you need to review, adjust, or plan tasks and materials before adding them to the service lines for post or if you don't know which resource is going to be work on it and all details, then you need to prepare Service Item Worksheet first for future changes.
For example, you aren't sure what parts or labor are required, so you first list out options, review them in Service Item/order Worksheet for future changes. All the Service Item Worksheet entries automatically Display in Service Order Lines for post.
Difference:
Service Order Lines: You enter final data directly into the service order.
Service Order Worksheet: You use it as a planning tool to prepare and validate details before adding them to the service order.
In essence, the Service Order Line is for detailed, item-specific information, while the Service Order Worksheet provides a summary and overall management view of the entire order.
