How to handle Holding vs Packing scenario in warehouse dispatch

Hi All,
I’m looking for advice on a warehouse dispatch scenario.
The requirement is:
If a sales order is fully reserved, it should go straight to Packing.
If it’s not fully reserved, it should go into a Holding location/bin until the missing stock is available.
Example:
SO100 has 2 lines.
Line 1 → fully reserved
Line 2 → partly reserved
Expected outcome: SO100 should remain in Holding until both lines are fully reserved, and only then move to Packing.
My question:
How can we handle this scenario in standard D365 F&O warehouse processes?
Thanks,
Rejul

is your reservation automatic or manual?

right now what is happening? Sales order work is created for line 2 with reserved qty?

    Hi Rejul,

You can maybe try to configure with the "Release status" of the sales order. When you release a sales order with a partially quantity, the release status becomes "Partially released"

On the work template for sales order you can set up a query

On the work template you can also assign a directive code

The directive code can be linked to a location directive. In the location directive actions you can configure the  "Holding location"

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hello,
Have you considered creating the shipment only when the full quantity is available, using fulfillment policies?
