ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi community,

We recently added the project dimension of a legal entity we integrated in AX 2012.

Set up were made in project module

When I'm in mgmt reporter, I can see these project and the project field in the reporting tree definition, or the row definition.

Reporting tree

Row definition

I tried to build a report with a general row definition, and filtering by project in the tree definition - Did not work - report is empty

I tried to build a report with the project in the row definition, with identifying the lind to Financial Dimention in the tree definition - Did not work - report is empty

What is wrong?  Have I missed a set up?

Thanks for the help

    Hi MireilleD,

When you say that the project financial dimension was added does that mean that you already had project transactions recorded before that did not have the project financial dimension included?

Do you actually have vouchers that have the project financial dimension included? Can you see them for example in the Trial Balance form in GL?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hi, first we completed GL set up to upload monthly trial balances from their legacy systems and get our consolidated financial statements.  It is only 6 months later that we completed the integration by configuring the other modules.  No project information was captured before that.

So far, I cannot see any project information in the GL.  I'm checking for vouchers with project financial dimension.  will get back to you.

    Thanks,

    Hi Ludwig,

I have attached a print screen from AR showing that a project was entered when a customer invoice was created.

This would proof that the project dimension was included.

    Hi again,

I'm went into the Financial Dimension set to see if I can add the project dimension.  When I tried to run a Trial Balance based with this set the system warned me that dimensions were not initialized.  If I click on initialize dimension, is this a critical action that may break something in the other legal entities?  Attached a few print screens to illustrate what I mean.

    Hi MireilleD,

The process is not critical but it might slow down AX for a while.

Depending on the number of transactions that you have in your system it might be smart not running it during a peak time.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

OK thank you.  Now I'm able to confirm that I see the project dimension in my project trial balance.  See attachment.

If I go back to my initial question, why I'm not able to generate project reporting in management reporter?

    Hi MireilleD,

It might be that there is a problem with the MR datamart.

    Can you check the following:

    1. GL-setup-financial dimensions-financial dimension configuration for integration applications

    - Is the project financial dimension listed there?

    2. MR configuration console:

    - Are the logs indicating any errors?

    - Are the MR processes running?

    3. MR Report designer

    - Can you share details that show how you setup the financial project dimension in your reports?

    - Have you tried running the Report with one of the Projects shown above (e.g. 00002, ...)?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I agree with Ludwig, you need to check in the following order:

    1. Go to General Ledger > Setup > FInancial dimensions > Financial dimensions for integration application and make sure that Project is included there.

    2. If 1 does not work, then try refreshing the data mart.

    Hello MireilleD,

Have you made any progress with this MR issue?

Would be great if you could keep us updated.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi to all,

    So regarding the questions above:

    1. Yes, project financial dimension listed there

    2. Yes, log indicates something, but it is more warnings than errors.

    3. Checking the design I may I found something.  Still investigate what is happening.

I will keep you posted.  I'm still testing a few things.

Please note that I will do a datamart refresh, I may be missing some transactions.

    Mireille
