Indirect costs of phantom item not included in cost price of manufactured item

Hello,

I have a phantom item in a Formula (BOM), and indirect costs have been defined in the costing sheet and linked to this phantom item.

Cost price calculation of the phantom item is OK, and shows the indirect costs as expected.

When we calculate the cost price of the manufactured item - with the phantom item included in the Formula (BOM) lines - the indirect costs are not included.

Anyone who knows why they are not included?

Regards,

Bart

    Hello Bart,

Have you already checked the available hotfixes on LCS to ensure that this system behavior is not caused by a bug?

Interesting... There is a bit of a disconnect here.

The reason why it is not added is because at estimating a production order, the phantom BOM is exploded and the prodcalctrans has no reference to the phantom item. Changing that would be a major design change/fix.

The cost calculation does include the phantom item however... If there is a fix, it probably would exclude the phantom items' indirect cost elements.

You need to move the indirect cost to somewhere else or include a cost carrying item or service in your phantom BOM.

Hello Ludwig, I haven't checked LCS yet. Thanks for the tip.

    Hello Fredrik,

I've been thinking about adding a service item, but in AX2012 it is only possible to add products with an Item Model Group where stocked product is 'checked'.

A bit of a conflict with a service item & stocked product :-), but yes this is an option.

Another possibility is to use a planned cost with Explosion mode set to Multilevel (or Make to Order) as this works as I want. And then I just need a simple copy functionality to copy the planned cost to the standard cost.

    Hello BartDerhore,

Please also have a look at Frederiks remark as AX might behave different from what you expect. This is something you should verify in addition.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
