System Message 5011 Invalid number of flex key definitions in the system

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I'm trying to setup a new company in SL 2015 in a stable environment with one system DB and multiple application databases with no multi-company functionality. I ran the DB Maintenance to create a new App DBB, logged in into it, completed setups the GL Setup, updated Company Information. Entered a COA. Trying now to create the Flex Key in the Flex Key definitions for the subaccount structure. When I open the screen I get the "System Message 5011 Invalid number of flex key definitions in the system". The screen opens but the PV list when I click F3   in the Field type the list comes empty.  In all other companies I see all six records for Vendor, Customer, etc.

What can it be? Did I miss some steps in a new DB initiation? I tried re-running the CSV upload but it did not help.

Thank you so much in advance!

    Pearl,

Thank you for posting to the forum. I am sorry your question remains unanswered.

I tested this process in my SL 2015 CU2 and verified as soon as the new application DB was created the FlexDef table in the application DB was populated with the 6 definitions expected in your PV list.  I had not even logged into SL and setup the new company for the new DB.

*** I ran "Select * from FlexDef" against the new DB I created

I also checked to see if there where any outstanding bugs or reports of this, but there was nothing reported to support.

Please let us know if you are still having this issue when creating new company databases. it might be in the order or way you are creating the database in Database Maintenance. I would have suspected a DBLog file being created when you created the DB if something was wrong, but it is hard to say what happened in this instance.

From your update on April 6th, I wonder when you created the new DB, did you select your system DB from a drop down prompt to link it to? In your initial post, it was noted that multi-company is not setup for your databases, but it sounds like your other DBs have inter-company setup for the COAs to be shared and seen across DBs?

    Thank you,

    Carolyn

I wanted to add another observation: when I updated the Company Maintenance, the Master Chart of Accounts and Master Subaccount table did not prepopulate and were just greyed out, so they are empty.  All other companies have the IDs populated in them.
