I wanted to know how the delivery address on sales order is getting populated when we select any customer. As per my understanding it should take primary address from customer card but behaviour is something different.i observed below scenarios in ax 2012 R3

1. When we create any new customer using existing name and created two address for that customer.one which is set as primary is of purpose delivery.other address is of business, delivery. In this case instead of taking primary address it is taking another address

2.When we create any new customer by creating new name and created two address for that customer.one which is set as primary is of purpose delivery.other address is of business, delivery. In this case it is taking primary address.

    Hi Shri,

In my thoughts AX is just trying to find an address set with purpose delivery. Probably it is related to the order how they are entered as there will be only one found. Other addresses should have alternative delivery as purpose. The primary address is only used when there is no address tagged with the delivery purpose.

    Hello Shri,

The primary address can be overridden in the "More options" section by setting a "Default" delivery address.  You can use this option to choose the default Business address and Delivery Address.

    Hi Shri,

AX picks delivery address of Sales order on below terms -

    1) If we have a single customer address against customer account, AX will pick it as delivery address of SO

    2) In case of multiple addresses, AX will pick up address with ‘address purpose’ as ‘Delivery’

    3) In case of multiple addresses with ‘Address purpose’ as ‘Delivery’, AX will pick the first created one.

    Thanks.

This is worthless functionality. The AIF framework natively placed the Sales Order Delivery address on the Sales Order created via the EDI --> Aif function. This is important with Ecomm and EDI trading partners like Amazon. Retailers will fulfill orders as 3rd party dropship address. The D365FO Entity framework did away with this necessary functionality. Either the entity should create the location and add it to the customer as an Alternate Delivery [ShipTo] address or pass along the data in the XML to the Sales Order. I Assumed that [X] Delivery Address is order specific would override the base functionality.
