Dynamics CRM On-Premise Integration with BPOS

Hi there,

I am currently working with a client to implement and migrate from Exchange On-Premise to Exchange Online, but they currently have an implementation of

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 (4.0.7333.2741)

which Outlook integrates with.  My query is:

1/ Will the Outlook add-in for CRM continue to function with CRM once the profile is configured for Exchange Online?

2/ I presume that if it does, once the client starts to use OCS and LiveMeeting Online etc... that integration with the On-Premise CRM solution will not work as desired (i.e. no presence status shown etc.....   In this case, would it be prudent to migrate CRM On-Premise to CRM Online at the same time and is this indeed possible?

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Laurence.

    Hi Laurence,

When you switch from exchange onprem to exchange online, your profile may change.  Worse case scenario you would have to re-configure the outlook crm plugin.

Regarding crm remaining on prem.  That shoudl work just fine with ocs, presence status, etc still working ok.

    Hi there,

Many thanks for the reply. Yes, the profile will be automatically re-configured by the BPOS Sign-In Client, so the CRM Plug-In will need to be re-configured.

That's good news about the presence integration, we will test this out.

Are there any other caveats that you can think of with this scenario and on prem CRM?

    Regards

Only other item may be the email router if you currently use it.  This may need to be reconfigured too.

I have a client interested in a hybrid Exchange/BPOS implementation who is using Dynamics CRM on premises. They want to keep their email integration with CRM on Premises, but are very interested in BPOS.

What is required to setup the integration between either a hybrid Exchange/BPOS implementation or a CRM/BPOS implementation?
