Navigation Lists - speeding up the data load

Hi

Does anyone know whether the Navigation List load can be made faster or if there is anyway for it to bypass "trawlling" through all the transactions?  Preferably without needing to purchase an additional product.

    Sort/select only on keyed/indexed fields or add a supplimental index with the appropriate fields.  Use a PC with more RAM.  Use a faster PC.  Yes, they are slow, I agree.
