I am a little confused on how to use this component. Where do I install it? CRM SQL server? CRM application server or the client machine that will VisualStudio to create report?

If you are going to write a fetch-based report you can use the Dynamics 365 Report authoring extension which you have to install on your dev machine or client machine where you have the visual studio installed.

With Fetch-based queries you do have some limitations, and if your report requirements can be accomplished using fetch queries, I would recommend to go for fetch-based report. This will reduce any rework in the future if you plan to move your CRM instance to online.

If you want to write an SSRS report, you will have to install the SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools) on your dev machine.

Hi,

You need install report authoring extension on client machine. This is extension to visual studio so that you can create Fetchxml report.
