Application Server Print to File Naming Convention

We are using application server to automate the running of our sales journal each night.  We'd like to have this print to file (.PDF) but I haven't determined how to get it to save a new file each night.  It is just overwriting the one from the night before.  Can this be done through SL?

    Hi!

I wanted to add to this that we found a solution that gets us past the overwriting issue. In case anyone else out there is looking for a similar solution, this may be of some help. There is a free .pdf printer called Bullzip that allows you to specify a name of a document, date, and it gives it a unique time stamp. It points to a specific folder of your choosing in Bullzip's setup. We installed this as a printer and then in SL, set the Application Server job for Sales Journal to go to that folder. Now, we have a new file each day and no longer have an issue with anything being overwritten.

    Hi Kati,

The short answer is No - Application Server uses the file name that you specified. It doesn't have the ability to increment the file name each day (SJ1.pdf, SJ2.pdf for example). You could go into Appliication Server and change the file name each day.  This functionality would make a good product suggestion.  You can submit product suggestions in the Product Feedback site in CustomerSource (click on Communities in the left hand column).

Let me know if you have any questions.
