Macro Question

Hello All!

I am new to this forum as this will be my first post and im hoping to follow this to gain more information for MDGP so thank you ahead of time for all your help.

Now this is my question:

I am currently trying to create a Macro to change some Unit Cost of some of our inventory transactions.

I know a macro is basically keystrokes being performed but i was wondering if it could do a bit more.

My main question is this, is there any command in the macro where i can tell it to "LOOK" for a value in the item number field and once that value is found, then edit the field Unit Cost for that item.

Any help would be appreciated

    RE: Macro Question

    Hi,

The Macro language cannot find an item. It does not perform conditional transactions. If you already know the values you are looking for, wouldn't the mail-merge macro work for you? I see that you said you were familiar with the mail-merge macro, what issues are you finding such that it doesn't work for you?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    RE: Macro Question

Yes i use mail merge to do this but my issue is i dont want a certain field updated or changed, i just want that field to be "FOUND" then once it is found go to the "UNIT COST" of that item and change that one.

    Example:

    Item 123     Unit Cost $2.50

    Item 456     Unit Cost $6.75

    Item 000     Unit Cost $9.99

So i want the macro to look up the item 123 (not go to field "Item Number" and TypeTo 123) and in the unit cost field of that item input $2.50

    RE: Macro Question

I would take a look at this blog:  blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../how-to-use-word-mail-merge-and-macros-to-import-data

It incorporates using Word and mail merge to enter specific data using a mail merge.  This way if you know the items you want to update, you'd build a file using those items and amounts and then run the macro to update them all at the same time.
