Cross Dock Bin Type - Can't select receive and pick

Posted on by 129

I'm unable to follow these instructions from this Microsoft Docs page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/warehouse-how-to-cross-dock-items#to-set-up-the-warehouse-for-cross-docking

This specifically states that a cross dock bin must have receive and pick selected.  Yet if I try to tick both Receive and Pick on a Bin Type, I get the following error:

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

My only explanation is that this is an error with the documentation, possibly even a typo - the Cross Dock bin must in actuality have 'Put-Away' and 'Pick' bin types selected - NOT 'Receive' and 'Pick'.

This makes sense in the workflow, as you are using a 'Put-Away' to move the items into the Cross Dock bin.

Yes, I tried that as well and failed. I do not know how even that possible. Maybe someone here can provide more info.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response.  I've actually already followed these steps but was unsure why the official documentation was advising to do something that was erroring when I tried it.

    Thanks

RE: Cross Dock Bin Type - Can't select receive and pick

    Hi

Can you please try the below steps (and not worry about Receive/Pick) and see the result?

    1) Navigate to your Location Card and define the bin in the Cross Dock Bin Code. Make sure the bin which you are defining is Cross Dock enabled bin (you need to add Cross Dock field into Bin by personalization)

    2) Now after doing the setup in Location card what you need to do is you need to go back to the Item card and make sure in the Item Card too the Cross Dock is enabled. or in SKU Card.
