Org Structure

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

My doubt is if we can run subledger (payroll) period-end (weekly/biweekly/monthly) process & financial year-end process at both child & parent level. If this is not achievable, can you please suggest me an alternate option in achieving this? I have defined company at parent level and customers/clients at child level.

    RE: Org Structure

    Hi,

I agree that the consolidation of reports, drill down & drill up can be done through FRx/MR.

What about year end processing, The YE process happens at company level. In this example YE process at Fabrikam, Inc level & not at Agency 201 level. Agency201 is a Agency/child setup in the same database & separate RE, GL, AP, AR accounts are assigned to Agency201. During YE process, if I provide the RE account pertaining to Agency201, it still runs at Fabrikam, Inc (parent) level. If the YE run happens at child level, reports can also be taken at that level.

It is not a viable solution to setup Agencies as companies in separate DB.

I would like to know if there are any setup/configuration or any other options to run the payroll & FI YE process at Agency201 level, Fabrikam US & Fabrikam, Inc all parent-child levels?

    Ram,

You can create a consolidate company reports with using FRx & Management Reporter. Please have a look on the below link.

To create a consolidated report in MR:

    blogs.msdn.com/.../creating-consolidated-financial-statements-using-management-reporter-consolidating-data-across-one-or-multiple-dynamics-erps-with-the-same-chart-of-accounts-and-same-fiscal-periods-part-1-of-7.aspx

To create a consolidated report in FRx:

    Hope this helps!!!

I have created a org structure

    Farikam, Inc (Sample Company)

     Fabrikam US

        Agency101

        Agency102

     Fabrikam UK

        Agency201

I have to run the payroll & fi year-end, period-end process at Agency201 level & at Fabrikam US level.

The payroll & fi reports should reflect the figure of Fabrikam US & Agency201  separately. I plan to build up a consolidated report at Fabrikam US level using FRx (not sure of any tools). All agencies are also setup as customers and vendors for payment/receipts.  Can you pl suggest me how to achieve this or an alternative if this is not possible?

Are you referring to Ledger and sub-ledger.  Payroll, A/P, A/R, Banking are a subledger to the General Ledger.  You post to the sub-ledger all the trx and then it posts to the General Ledger.  Therefore at the month end you should always reconcile your subledgers to your General Ledger accounts.  If instead you are trying to use the Org Structure (Company-Dept-Location) and instead you want (Company-Customers/Vendors) unless they are part of your Chart of Accounts don't know how that would work.
