Managing financials for 5 regions

So we  have 5 regional offices.  We need to have each region manage it's finances using GP, and then be able to monitor and report on the finances in our central office.  The key is that each region should NOT be able to see the finances of the other regions.  THey should only see and manage their own finances.  Is this possible?

I've principally used GP for it's sales and inventory module.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

When you say that each region should not be able to see the finances of the other regions do you mean sales, purchases and financial data?

If they can't see any of Sales, Purchases or financial data of the other regions then I guess it would be best to create 5 seperate companies. This makes the security surrounding access to the regions much easier to manage. You can then do consolidated financial reporting for the "group" via FRx.

If its just financial data (i.e GL) then you could use a segment of the account format to distinguish the "company" (i.e. 01-???-??,02-??-??,03-???-??,04-???-??,05-???-??) and lock the individual accounts down using account level security.

    Hope this helps

Out-of-the-box, the easiest way to accomplish this is with 5 separate GP companies.

There is also a product by Binary Stream that offers Multi-Facility set up within the same GP company, but you would have to do some careful evaluation to determine if it would do everything that you need.

I would strongly recommend that you have a long talk about this with your GP Partner so they can help guide you to the best option for accomplishing what you need.  There are many considerations from how individual transactions are entered to intercompany activities to financial reporting.  These should all be carefully considered during your planning.
