MS Dynamics Nav - e-commerce website

Hi There, I apologise if this has been asked before but so far been unable to find anything on-line... Our client uses MS Dynamics Nav as their ERP system and they want to develop 2-3 e-commerce websites which need to integrate order details within MS Nav. The site would need to update MS Nav data, such as stock levels, and read data from MS Nav. We want to create the e-commerce websites in PHP and MySQL with payment processing (either external or on-site). My questions are: 1) Is this actually possible? Can we develop the e-commerce site in PHP first and then integrate MS Nav once the whole site and e-commerce is up and running? 2) If it is possible, how would I start implementing the integration? I can't find any on-line resources\help on this so if anyone could point me in the right direction... 3) Any other advice - tips, things to avoid etc will be appreciated! Many thanks, Tom

    You couldn't find anything?

Are you looking for something like this:

    Hi,

Yes, I couldn't find much. No, that's not what I'm looking for.

Sorry if I was not clear but we are not after an out-of-the-box solution or a .NET solution like the above link. We are building the e-commerce websites from scratch, and in PHP. These websites need to update order info in MS Nav after an order has been placed on the website.

I have since found out php connections are possible with web services in MS Nav 2009 SP1 but there seems to be very little in terms of resources or official documentation regarding PHP\Nav integration. I did find one blog which might help but other than that, I have little idea,

    Thanks

    T

I do not think that this is the answer you want but just in case I can help.  What I do not know is why PHP is so important?  We have a solution to do all you want which requires no .NET, PHP or SQL skills.  We can have you up and running with a fully integrated trading web site within 2 weeks.  If this is any help see www.manorquarry.co.uk - if not, sorry.

Just curious what you ended up doing for your project?

If you chose a .NET approach I would like to recommend Insite.

Insite is a Microsoft Gold Partner and has integrations with Axapta, Navision, Soloman and GP.

InSiteCommerce may be a good fit for your project.

Yes, it is definitely possible! We actually provide a solution to help integrate NAV with a number of different systems. www.nchannel.com/connect-microsoft-dynamics-nav

Using the nChannel connector for Microsoft Dynamics NAV you can quickly and efficiently integrate and connect your Microsoft ERP system to a number of Point of Sale, eCommerce, 3PL or remote warehouse systems.

    Hope that helps!

We have a ISV solution that provides complete eCommerce functionality for Microsoft Dynamics NAV(Navision).

Dynamics E-Shop is a fully integrated e-commerce solution for Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision). E-Shop offers an out-of-the box web store which directly interacts with Dynamics NAV (real time using web services).

E-shop is specially designed to leverage rich functionality provided by Dynamics NAV. Key elements such as Items, category, customers, customer specific pricing, discounts and any specific business logic are created and maintained in NAV. E-shop utilizes NAV webservices and latest technologies to communicate with ERP to pull these information real-time over the web to display accurate information to your consumers (B2C), business customers (B2B) and your Sales person.  E-Shop creates order real time without need to sync.

You can checkout more at www.dynamicseshop.com or contact us at sales@dynamicseshop.com

Definitely possible. One approach would be using NAV Webservices as the link on mibuso.com suggests and read/write NAV data real-time. An alternative (which we consider is better) - use replication approach, whereas the data you need to show on the website is replicated from NAV to MySQL, and the other way around. Replication will give you non-interdependent systems (i.e. the websites will still work while NAV is under maintenance or there's no link), improved performance of the websites, the ability to host them virtually anywhere, scale in the cloud etc., as there's no need to read anything from NAV while the visitors are just clicking. Supports older NAV versions as well.

An advice/tip - this is a complex ground. While you will surely create a proof-of-concept quickly, it will most likely take a big effort to to things right and reliable for serious production. We do NAV-ecommerce integrations on daily basis, integrating with PHP stack in particular [and there's a reason for that - PHP is around 80% share for data driven websites]. Anyways, initially it tool like 2 years and 10 projects of trial and error until honestly calling our integration engine stable and reliable.

Feel free to email for some futher advice. Or check out what we can offer as an ISV.
