Hi ,

I encountered the following error when testing on SMTP after applying O365 Server Settings.

i have provided my email and passwords.

The mail system returned the following error: "The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [SG2PR0302CA0009.apcprd03.prod.outlook.com]".

It seems that some settings are not correct.

We have the same problem, and it was after enabling MFA.

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did some testing, and found out that " Baseline Policy: Block Legacy Authentication ", is blocking connection from BC to Exchange Online, and also Connection for Dynamics CRM in my case.

Trying to figure out how to bypass this policy for specific users.

so just got of the phone with the Microsoft support.

We created the Conditional Access policies from Scratch, on the block legacy, it will be possible to exclude your Mailbox account for Business central !

Check this link on the Bottom of the page for further instructions:

The error means it cannot connect.  There are 3 main reasons this will occur.
    - The user doesn't actually have a mailbox in Office 365
    - You are typing in the wrong username or password

The other reason, as others have pointed out is that MFA is enabled in some form.  If the user must have MFA enabled then you will have to utilize an App Password to get the connection setup.
