Is it possible to use generic FetchXML to return grandparent data?

My plugin solution requires that any form can contain webresources that needs access to grandparent data. My mechanism already has a way of configuring/defining the relationship (which I may need to extend, granted).

Take this example, I find a Contact and Add a child custom entity. I have the GUID in queryString._CreateFromId and now I need to access data on the Account record and can define this(e.g.) Parent/Grandparent/Field, e.g. Contact/Account/fieldName.

I accept that there may need to be some additional configurability and there may well be some constraints but is there any way that I can use a generic FetchXML that will take the parent guid and entity names as parameters, lookup the grandparent and operate across any entities and relationship types?
