What makes a field not available in a view ?

Hello

It might sound like a silly question but I cannot find the answer online nor in the doc.

I'm simply trying to add a new column in a view for the E-mail entity, to display the built-in field "To Recipient" and it is simply not available to be displayed in a view.

I've added a few properties to email entity and they are listed in there.

I also checked for any particular setting on the To Recipient field but I cannot see anything that would make it not available (it's searchable, does not have field security everything looks standard...)

My only guess at this point, and if it's true, it'll be the first time I'm saying, "well this is stupid" about something related to CRM, I believe it could be the length of the field (since it's quite big, single line of text with 500 char max). One could understand that you may not want to display that field in a view because it would make it harder to read/use.

If that's the case, it needs to be more visible, I hope this is not the reason.

Hope someone can help me on that one, thanks a lot.

Ok so short answer is : the field length is not the reason why it's not available. I created a new field, with exact same properties as the one I'm trying to display and it's available to be displayed in a view.

    it's really really weird...

    Has anyone tried that ?

I think I'm going to end up adding my own field and set its value from a plug in which should be easy enough but I'm still puzzled on why the ToRecipients field is not available for a view.

    Hello,

I tried to create a new System View for Email entity on My CRM Server with UR 14 and was able to add the "To" and "From" columns to the view.

Could you please share the name of the view where you are trying to add this "To" Column ? Also tell us the Update Rollup of your CRM Server.

    Hi,

I think you checked the searchable to false

    Hi Sneha

it's not the To or From column I'm trying to add but the ToRecipient, which is a field populated with that actual email address to which the email was sent.

    Hi Soma

That fiels is a built in field and is set to searchable = Yes.

I ended up making my own field for that which works fine but I'm still puzzled why this field cannot be added to a view.
