We have had some problems with document dates in Payables Transactions being many years in the future. I thought there was a way to prevent that, but I'm not sure what it is.

DocDateVerify. It's a file that prevents posting a document into a future closed period, or a period that has not yet been setup. It's part of the Professional Services Tools Library, which is free for GP2010 or can be procured as a separate .cnk file if you're on a prior GP version. Pretty sure it's a freebie. Check with your GP Partner.
