Hi,

Is there any plugin for Dynamics CRM, that I can use in a CRM-workflow to get the total distance (KM) between 2 addresses?

Isnt there any "easy to use" plugins that I can install directly as a solution. And use that in my workflows?

    Hi,

I've been looking for a while and haven't been able to find a plugin like that. It would be straightforward to write one that gets directions from Google Maps, and then takes the total mileage and puts it on your form. There's probably not an automated solution for this because it would be difficult to configure it for which addresses to use. It's possible, but it seems so specialized that it's probably written custom each time.

Hope this helps, even if its not the answer you were looking for. If so, I would appreciate if you would mark this as the verified answer.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

There must be a plugin for this - since all people are writing some custom. Like you wrote it should be straightforward. To comment on the route, I would prefer that the it will always accept the shortest route..

    Hi,

I would be surprised if you found one because it's going to need to be highly customized, because there are a hundred ways you could specify the addresses to calculate:

    1) A contact home and business address from its account

    2) A contact home and business address from some static address (your organization's address)

    3) Some custom entity with a address-like fields, away from one of the contact or account addresses

    4) Some custom entity with an address relative to some other custom entity with an address.

And then for any of those options, you would have to store the distance somewhere.

Like I said, calculating the distance between two things should be easy, but making a ready-to-go plugin where you can configure the addresses will be a real pain.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

Yes you are right - there can be many variables from where to where the total mileage is calculated. But that was exactly why I thought that there could be a solution, where you just had to specify ex:

    - Where is the starting address (You select the entity and fields. Ex address, zip, country)

    - Where is the end address ((You select the entity and fields. Ex address, zip, country)

Based upon that the total milage (KM) would be calculated based upon the shortest route / direction. With either google maps or bing maps.

So you are already waiting for a free plugin for half of year. And actually it would take up to 10 hours to develop it. Why don't you want to develop that plugin (or if you don't know development to hire someone) and share it with community (because as you mentioned it has to be very popular)?

I agree :) I will consider - but in the meantime maybe something has come up.
