The last cumulative update was October 2017 for version 8.2.2. Since then there have been a couple of token service updates but then nothing new or any indication of anything even on the way? there have been 18 Service updates for online however, as well as all the version 9 updates.
Is on prem being dropped?

On-premises is not about to be dropped, but Microsoft's current focus is on the cloud.
