Marketing trial on a paid instance?

Posted on by 2

I am setting up a new tenant for a client who currently have less than 10 license. Along with CRM functionality, we also wants to show them new marketing capabilities.

Is this possible to setup a marketing trial under a production tenant which then will convert to production if required.

Or what is the best way forward for my scenario.

Thanks

Yes, you can use all of the Marketing functionality in the trial.  If you want to use some of your contacts from say your production instance, you could import the contact information into the trial.  I think what was meant was that because the trial doesn't directly integrate with an instance, the contacts don't flow in automatically as they would with a paid license.

    Hi NMK,
The trial of Marketing installs as a stand-alone on the tenant by design, so it isn't possible to install it in a particular instance e.g. production, sandbox, dev, etc. Also the trial doesn't "convert" to a paid instance like other Dynamics products. The customer would have to export and import anything that they wished to port to a paid instance.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Megan

    Hi Ian,

    Thanks alot for your reply.

can you please provide some details? like how you did that? and what you mean by you can't communicate with any contact? Obviously I won't target a customer journey to all the contacts but I can definitely create a segment and send to some for testing?

please also let me know if your trial marketing was an app in your existing CE instance or it was created in a separate instance (trial instance)

    Thanks and regards

    Hi nmk,

Yes, I have set up an instance of Marketing on a live tenant and you can walkthrough and demo quite will.  Obviously, you cannot communicate with any Contacts and therefore the Customer Journeys do not kick off and the stats don't mean anything, but you can at least get an idea of what it can do.
