When our Fixed asset transfer number sequence was set up. It was done with the range 1 - 999.

We have now hit the 999 and the next number is 1000

However when editing the sequence i get the below error:

I added the Alphanumberic to contain a length of 4. but I still get the error.

Any ideas?

D365 allows a number sequence with up to 20 characters, with a max of 9 characters in the numeric segment.  As soon as you attempt to exceed that, it screams with the following error.  I still think the error message is related to the Reference section.

    Hi,
According to your description, The error message suggests that there are references using the current number sequence that don't have sufficient length to accommodate numbers from the updated We created new number sequences based on the screenshot you provided, and the warning message in your screenshot did not appear. The screenshot we created is as follows:
    We recommend that you:
    1. Check related entities: Ensure that you have considered all the related entities or tables that might be using the Fixed Asset transfer number sequence. These could include transaction records, journals, or any other entity where the number sequence is being utilized. Update the number field length in those related entities to match the new alphanumeric format with a length of 4.
    2. Consider database constraints: Double-check if there are any database constraints set on the number sequence field in the relevant table. If so, you may need to modify or update those constraints to allow for longer alphanumeric values.
PS: From the perspective of error type, this is a warning type, not an error type that will block the process. Does it affect your normal processes?

    Howdy Raj,

You are trying to have an 11 digit number sequence, D365FO doesn't like that.

    Options

    1) Create a new number sequence with less digits

    2) Try and change the existing number sequence by removing part of the "Constant" section.

    Regards
    James
