Hi,

I would like to understand the logic behind allowing negative values in the 'Discount' and 'Discount Percent' fields on sales orders.

    Negative discounts essentially act as a surcharge or markup.

    Hi,
     
    I get your point, there is no logical reason to put in a negative discount or percentage, since it works as the opposite of a discount, ie. a surcharge or markup.
    The way Microsoft implements things is as less restrictions as possible. This is something I noticed, not a statement from MS.
     
    There might be reasons to use negative values as the standard process doesnt work for some reason. In the end, it doesnt really hurt, unless the users understand not to put in negative values.
