Create Power BI reports in multiple companies

I have watched the video https://blog.wingate365.com/2025/02/get-power-bi-apps-for-multiple.html and follow steps in Business Central.

When I added the app again, the app version is not the latest one, therefore, there are 2 versions of app installed in the Power BI app.

Is there any problem? I was trying to install the same version twice, but it seems it does not allow me to do so because the latest version has been installed.

It is weird to me that we need to install multiple apps for multiple companies, however, they are different versions.

Has anyone have any thought?

Two versions isn't dangerous, just inconsistent. Uninstall the old one per company, then reinstall -that forces it onto the current version and keeps everyone aligned.

Hello,

Yes, Microsoft confirms that the Power BI apps work per Business Central company, so for multiple companies you need a separate app/workspace for each company. However, you do not need different app versions for different companies; Microsoft specifically supports installing another copy of the same app into a new workspace. So ideally, use the latest compatible version for each company, and when installing again choose Install another copy of the app into a new workspace. Having an older and newer version side by side is not necessarily an immediate problem, but it can create unnecessary maintenance and reporting differences between companies.

Hi, this is expected, not a problem.

It is not one workspace per company overall, it is one workspace per installed copy of each app, so Company A alone could end up with separate Finance, Sales, Purchasing workspaces if you use all three apps. Microsoft confirms these work per company and each additional company needs another copy installed into its own new workspace, that's the flow to use, not reinstalling on top of an existing one.
On version, each installed copy updates independently when you hit Update app in its own workspace, so drift between copies is normal over time. But a fresh install from the current AppSource link should pull the currently published version, so seeing an older one on a brand new install is odd. When it tells you the latest is already installed, there should still be an option like Install another copy into a new workspace, did you get that option, or did it just block you outright?

As others have mentioned there aren't any issues with this. You just need to make sure to maintain them every update. As an extra suggestion I would just rename the workspaces with the company name:
In BC you can also set the default Power BI reports used which is where you will get a lot of value from the standard Microsoft Power BI apps.
When a workspace/report is outdated you can just delete it.
