Company VS/Legal Entity

Hello,
 
Our company is transferring from Dynamics NAV to dynamics Operations. In Dynamics Finance Operations, you can only create legal entity but not a company.
 
Is there any differences between these? In regards to setup, what setup does the legal entities share and what does not?(ex, number of sequences, chart of accounts, etc)

    The legal entities in F&O are to be used as companies. It is the same concept. Each legal entity has its own settings for number sequences, link to which CoA and fiscal calendar to use, etc.

    Fundamentally, they are all the same.
    By definition, a “legal entity” is an organization identified by being registered with a legal authority. Legal entities may enter into contracts and be required to prepare statements reporting their performance.
    A company is a type of legal entity. In Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, a company is the only legal entity you can create, and each legal entity is associated with a company ID.
    For sharing and not sharing, you can refer to this link. And number sequence codes can be shared or specific to a legal entity.
