Timeline Filters Loading Slow or Giving Errors

With the new updates to the Timeline, we are trying to get our reps to start using it more to manage their Notes and Activities, but we have found it loads VERY slowly. The actual records themselves load within 30 seconds, but the Filter pane can take 3-5 minutes to load, and sometimes will just error out (a message appears saying "An unexpected error has occurred"). We have limited the Timeline to only load certain Activities (Tasks, Appointments, Emails, Phone Calls, & a custom Activity we made for Notes), and it also only loads 5 records at a time, but it still goes very slowly. Has anyone experience a similar issue, either with slow loading or the "unexpected error" message? Does anyone have any tips of ways to speed up load times on the Timeline? We are open to any and all suggestions, thank you for your help!

We recently noticed a slow loading issue and are working on it.

You could also raise a ticket to reflect your problem so that you will get a quick response from the Microsoft support team.

Hi Alister,

Is your Timeline reporting this error?

If so, the issue is still unresolved, its status is MITIGATED.

There are currently solutions to mitigate this problem temporarily.

If you would like to get these solutions, please contact Microsoft support.

Hi,

we have the same issue, ticket raised to MS and the outcome was that there seems to be a back-end issue and as I understood that dev team is working on a redesign of the filter functions and this might or hopefully be coming out in the new major release this spring.

We actually not only have issues with the filter functions I have found that if there is a lot of content in the Timeline it takes really long time to load the entire timeline when loading the form

So we hope for the best

Thanks - it does seem to have improved a little for us recently. Not sure if that's because they have made some tweaks in the system or something else, but it is at least usable now if a little slow to load.

Is there any update on this issue? We're having the same issue with the timeline. Sometimes it takes 5-30 seconds to load and another 45 seconds to load the filter pane. We also see "an unexpected error occurred" sometimes.

Hi Robert,

as I have tested on the new April Release it does not seem to include any updates for the timeline that I have hoped. I will reach out to Microsoft Support after the release to see what is going on. Because as I wrote before I got information that an update and redesign of the Timeline filter functions should be available in the April release.

Is there a way to remove the filter portion of the pane on the left side at least, until it's updated?
