Retail return in Store database.

Hello,

in AX 2012R3 when a customer make a return in any store the system is searching for the receipt in headquarter.

this will take longer to check the receipt and if there is no connection with HQ we can't make return.

if anyone can tell me please if there is an option to make return on the store site not HQ?

When you process a return, the POS will first check if the transaction exist in the store DB. If the transaction doesnt exist in Store DB, it will search and fetch the transaction details from HQ to process it.

Now coming to you question, to return a transaction locally with the original transaction information. the transaction should be available in the store DB. If your company allows global return, it is not practical to download all the transactions in store just to make it possible to return the transaction without HQ connectivity.

If you are referring to the same store return, the recommended option will be to increase the data retention period in functionality profile to retain the transaction data in store DB for 90 ays or 180 days based on your company's return policy. Or you can also try using the return product operation which will not require HQ connectivity at all.

To increase the transaction retention period. Go to Retail > Setup > POS > Profiles > Functionality profiles. Update days transaction exist field to 90 days based on your return policy.

we updated the transactions days, but I think this work for registers.

we have separate register for only returning so it's not the same register that made the selling.

Hi Wasim,

Functionality profile is setup on Store level which means if you make a change in days transactions exist field in functionality profile, it will be reflected in all registers of that store. So this will work for you. :)

I would also suggest to provide which POS version you are on ? Is it below CU12, if yes then the cleanup of transactions are not happening automatically which means that it should anyways be working for u already, if you opt return in same store.

But if it's not working then I suggest to try Return on product option instead of Return with receipt which will not give a call to HQ using RTS.

hi Shafeeque,

I have a question how we could find if global allow is given or not. I mean if there is any feature in dynamics ax that could restrict returns among stores and search of return receipt could be done only on one store?
