set fiscal year status to closed ax 2012 R3 CU9

Dear all,

Does anyone could explain the meaning of "set fiscal year status to closed" check box on GL parameters?

I thought when we chose this check box, AX will automatically close all of the open/ on-hold periods of this fiscal year. But seem like it is not, we have to manually close the periods and process the Opening transactions.

    Hi,

    I would never make use of it because closing a fiscal year does not allow you reopening it. Imagine that you auditors request some changes to your prior year data. If you have closed your previous year, you cannot make those changes.

    Always put your periods on-hold unless you are forced to close them e.g. by law.
