GP 2013 Fixed Asset Import/Export

I am attempting to import assets using the Asset import tool. I have saved the Excel file as a CSV (comma delimited) file. When I attach the file and run as a macro, I got the following error message: Filed not found in dictionary. (Line #5).

As suggested by a Susan Conrod of the GP Community; "this happens everytime you run in a Fixed Asset the very first time.  Basically, the way around it is to enter one asset manually and then everything else will come in".

I did as Susan suggested, however, I still encountered the error.

Any suggestions?

Regards

JLowe

I agree with Mahmoud. I have used the Macro tool many a times for Fixed Assets and also for some other areas within GP. It takes a little bit of time setting it up but once the setup is done in the template Macro correctly and data is clean (rid of invalid characters), its a breeze to run it through.

Another option, is the Macro tool. I have an Excel macro generator which includes a calculation formulas to calculate the YTD  and LTD. All you have to do is to fill the asset details according to the original template, and the macro generator tool will dynamically calculate the results and provide a macro file to be run on Dynamics GP.  I have used it in several sites, importing more than 10,000 assets.

The file is planned to be published on my blog soon as part of the macro generator series.

Hi There...  Do you have a template for Great Plains 2013 Asset Import / Export Template?

    Thanks,

    Brian

I checked the fix-list and it looks like it was fixed in 11/19/13 version of the Payroll Year end update. 12.00.1538 (KB2911836).

Thank you Redbeard! This solution worked. However it only imported one asset :-( from the import template.

I believe this post explains the problem you have encountered in detail and how to fix it.

The best approach is to fill in the fields in the Asset Export/Import window as you did before, but this time, leave the Run Macro after creation unchecked
