Run-time error '214721900 (80040e14)':

I am getting the following error message when attempting to synchronize the offline database:

 

A few things:

  • I am on RMS version 2.0.0162
  • I have the store database on Register 1
  • I am receiving the error on register 2 only
  • I have set register 1 with a static IP address
  • I have SQL 2008 R2 installed on both registers
  • I have made sure that incoming connections are allowed (TCP/IP and Named Pipes)
  • I have increased he connection timeouts for both the database and the offline database in Store Operations Administrator
  • I have set the SQL Browser Service to start automatically

Does anyone have a solution I could try?

    The only static IP address one needs is on the Server machine.

    Try adding the IP of the Server to the Network Client Utility I the RMS Start folder Alias tab using TCP/IP.

    Also make sure that the 2005 Backward Compatibility Component is installed on all machines running SQL from here; www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    What ended up fixing this was adding the exceptions in windows firewall
