RMS HQ DynaZIP ZIP Warning

RMS 2.0 Multi-Store Environment with HQ

Recently we have been experiencing DynaZIP ZIP Warning: Zip File error...missing end signature, followed by a DynaZIP ZIP Error: Zip File Structure invalid. On our RMS HQ Server.

When these warning/error appear RMS HQ hangs until the messages are cleared. We have not noticed any issues as a result of these errors except that other locations are prevented from communicating. Once the errors are cleared, any store that had started communicating will connect.

Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on how to correct the issue?

Thanks

We've seen it before, never been able to re-produce it on demand so it can be fixed.  We suspect its a Windows problem that fixes itself on a re-start.

    Hello Brian,

    Thank you for your questions.

Thank you Jeff for your reply.

These steps usually resolve Dynazip Errors:

    1. Register the following dlls with these commands in the Windows Command Prompt:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters Client\dzactx.dll"

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters Client\duzactx.dll"

(You can also browse to the .dll files, right click, and "open with" regsvr32.exe)

    2. Uninstall and Reinstall RMS and HQ Client

    3. Apply the latest service packs and updates

Also delete any QS_*.tmp files that you may find in your temp directory.

    1. Click Start | Run

    2. Type in : %temp% | Press OK

    3. Delete all .tmp files that have file names starting with QS_

Thank you Trent B. I have multi-store environment [22 stores] located in different cities. Do i need to register the DLLs on each client and uninstall/reinstall RMS & HQ Client? Please clarify.

A Razak: What version are you using? 2.0.1001 added a "quiet" feature to HQ Client to compensate for the Dynazip problem.

Here's the info from hotfix 32:

Note To resolve this issue, follow these steps on the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics RMS Headquarters Client at each store after you install this hotfix:

Right-click the Headquarters Client shortcut, and then click Properties.

Type -q at the end of the target string as follows:

       "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters Client\HQClient.exe" -q

Click Apply, and then click OK.

    Hi Razak,

First try the following suggestion from Trent. It should work.

    1. Click Start | Run

    2. Type in : %temp% | Press OK

    3. Delete all .tmp files that have file names starting with QS_

For us, deleting the temp files didn't seem to make any difference. The errors always came back eventually. We haven't had any Dynazip errors since 2.0.1001. My suggestion is to update to the current version and add the -q switch to your HQ Client shortcuts.

    Hi All,

After adding the -q switch, the below error is what you get after  updating the target path  to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Retail Management System\Headquarters\HQServer" –q

    "Unknown command option -q"

Does it mean you have to be deleting .tmp files everytime because none of htese options work and the error keeps coming back.

Microsoft needs to fix this issue permanently.

We are currently using version 2.0.2002

The -q switch is used with HQ Client, not HQ Server.
