AA and Requisitioning

Hi, we use Dynamics GP 2013 r2 and have recently activated AA and set up some dummy codes and dimensions in our test systems. We have Country as the Dimension and 3 Countries set up under Codes. They are all set as required and linked to our travel accounting class.

We would like a requisition to be raised in GP 2013 r2 with the need for AA to be populated. However, we are finding that requisitions can be submitted without AA codes being defined or forced!

Has anyone found a solution to this, is it possible to make this mandatory?

Thanks.

I found the answer to my own issue in the end. Within the AA options (GP, Tools, Setup, Company, Analytical Accounting, Options) there is a check box to "Include required TrxDim. in Purchase Requisitions". Bish bash bosh, problem solved.

Thank you for the quick response and I appreciate AA is part of the Financial module. However, it can be used when processing and assigning invoices in the purchase module and AA features as a selection option in Purchase Requisitioning, it simply doesn't appear mandatory...?

    Hello,

I believe we are talking about two different things which could not be related in a way or another. Analytical Accounting is a module that is built on top of the general ledger, in order to analyze GL distributions amounts as they are posted. On the other hand, a requisition is a request that is submitted for approval with no GL effects.

For that I believe you are trying to have analytical information recorded on the system, in order to determine the country or any other criteria, right? I would consider using the user-defined fields would sever such purpose.

As shown above, you have two types of user defined fields, one of the requisition level, and two line defined fields for each line item. Additionally, you can change the title which is "User Defined Field 1" to whatever dimension you want such as "Country". But the only disadvantage I could think of is the inability to have this field as a drop-down list with specific predefined values, so users will have to enter the country manually without choosing from a list.

To re-title the user defined fields, go to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Purchasing > Purchase Order Processing Setup. Click on "Requisition", see below:
