yes, smart list can show you the current balance.
Thanks for the quick responses and my apologies for not replying before. The SQL side is getting beyond my skills really, but I agree making 2 macros seems a sensible way to go. Is there a way to see is they have balances using a smartlist?
I like CloudShifter's answer. You could also join the two macros together in a giant macro so that you only need one macro. You'll need to run the macro before anyone has a chance to change the balances :)
This is really a good candidate for using SQL to actually create the macro. SQL can check to see if the account has a balance and then write the appropriate code. The two lists is really the best idea in my opinion.
Kind regards,
Leslie
Separate your list into accounts that have balances and those that don't and create 2 macros.
Hi all,
I have a similar issue to this (trying to make multiple accounts inactive, but no real pattern to the accounts).
I've set up a macro which will make the accounts inactive and seems to work in general. However, the problem I now have is that for some accounts, a pop up box appears to say the account has a balance and do I want to continue. The macro is set to say yes to continuing. However if that pop up box doesnt appear the macro falls over.
So I guess I need a line in the macro to say "if the popup box appears then A, if not then B".
Any ideas of how this could be done?
Many thanks
Paul
Hi Jay,
If you have large data I would recommend to do this through a macro .
I have a list of accounts that don't fall into a particular range and the mass modify wouldn't really apply here. I tried to use IM to update that field but my accounts have balances. Is there another way to mass update this and bypass the message of the account has balances?
Leslie is right - the mass modify option works nicely and you should get a report on it.
Hi,
Use the GL Mass Modify feature. You can identify the segment range and inactivate them all in a single process.
Kind regards,
Leslie
Thank for writing FRANK HAMELLY.
Actually I want to achieve this using the Dynamic GP web service.
It would be great if you can help on my one of forum: community.dynamics.com/.../109032.aspx
