ReportReport

Has anyone been able to get this to work?  I've tried everything I can think of and I keep getting 'Error loading server' when I launch BA.  I have verified EVERYTHING in SSRS and SharePoint so please don't refer me to the troubleshooting steps in the doc's.  I did everything correctly (several times on 2 different 2 days), the paths to SQL report server and the SharePoint report library are correct, SSRS/SharePoint integration is configured and working properly.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks, Bryce

    Bryce,

The following are the two main things to check.

    1. The paths are correct.  (According to your comment, they are correct, but this is important to check for you or others.)
      1. The report server url should look like the following:  http://machine/reportserver.  It can be found in SQL Report Services Configuration Manager.
      2. The SharePoint document library should look like the following:  http://machine/documentlibrary.  This depends on how you've configured your document library of course.
    2. Your user has security access to the url's.  Make sure you can browse both of the url's with the given user that you are launching Business Analyzer with.

If you include more information about your configuration (url's, how machines are deployed, etc.), it may help in the troubleshooting.

    Thanks

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for your reply, but I think I've got this fugured out.  I re-read the install manual and noticed under the 'Before you begin' section that you need to have GP Reporting Services reports installed, so I loaded up the R2 installation media and low and behold - no GP Reporting Services on the R2 media??  Don't know why it's not there, but I figure after downloading the 2010 RTM media I'll be all set.

    Thanks for you help!

    Bryce,

I think I see the confusion now.  You need to "deploy" the srs reports prior to the Business Analyzer working.  The deployment is now built into Dynamics GP for R2.  There is no longer a separate install for it.  Go to Tools > Setup > System > Reporting Tools Setup.  That's where you deploy reports.

    Thanks

First off, thanks again for your help.  Now I follow your instructions to deploy the reports, make the proper selections and get prompted for a domain username and password.  I've tried server users (farm admin, domain admin, member of the report library contriutors group and all return 'you do not have security access to the location where you want the reports to be deployed'.  I don't understand how that is possible given all the different accounts I've tried.

Hello Bryce, with using SharePoint Integrated mode with SQL SRS and deploying to SharePoint, there's a couple things I wanted to have you verify:

    1. In SharePoint Central Administration 2010, activate the 'Report Server Integration Feature'.

    2. Verify that the account being used to deploy the SRS reports to SharePoint's Report Library can access the Report Library and Reports locations without any permissions errors.

Also, let me know if you're not currently using SharePoint 2010.

    Thank you

Hi Derek, checked and both the central admin site and the SharePoint site and the RS integration feature was enabled in both - I disabled and re-enabled just to be sure, but still the same results.

The account used for deployment can indeed access the the repport library and is a member of the farm administrators group.

    I'm running GP 2010 R2.

    Thanks for your reply!

    Bryce,

Are you trying to deploy reports as the same user that is running the SharePoint app pool?  If yes, could you try giving another user access and deploying with that user?

For troubleshooting, I'd recommend looking at the SharePoint logs for more information.  The path is something like the following for SharePoint 2010:  Drive:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.

    Thanks

Rob,  I run the app pools under a different account then the SP administrator (which is different still from the sp farm account).  I pretty much set this up 'by the book' according to microsoft's least priv model.  I've been looking at the logs, both the server logs and the sp logs, but i haven't seen anything that helps... yet, anyway.  I wonder if enabling the gp dex logs and taking a look at those might help?

    This is a tough one!

    Bryce,

I'm thinking that you should see a request for the document library in the SharePoint log with your user.  Is there nothing there?

On a semi-related note, what does your configuration look like?  What version of sql, SharePoint, how many machines, etc.?

    Thanks

    Hi Rob,

I'll have another look at the SP logs, but I haven't foound anything related to the doc library yet.

The machine I'm using is 2008r2, sql 2008r2, sp 2010 enterprise - all fully patched.  All are running on the same virtual box in my test environment, 4 proc's, 8 GB RAM.

    Thanks,

    Bryce
