D365 Containerization Process Correction

The D365 containerization process combines both the pick and pack operations into a single step. While this offers a significant efficiency gain for my client, it seems to lack flexibility in the event of error. With the standard manual D365 pick and pack process, containers can be reopened and picking quantities can be reduced. However with containerization the load cannot be deleted with associated containers, and the containers cannot be reopened or deleted even prior to picking. What are the options for correcting an error after an order has been released to the warehouse?

When I looked at this functionality I saw the same thing you did.   It doesn't appear that there is a way to correct the containerization if something ends up in the wrong container.  We ended up doing a customized solution where we did some automation through the packing station. This gave us the ability through the packing station to re-open, add or split a container.

I'll be interested to see if anyone posts any sort of out of the box solution here to this issue.

It sounds like you were looking for similar functionality Scott. I also need to call the shipping courier custom rate engine from the packing profile, in addition to specifying a different shipping location based on the worker ID. We were thinking of tapping the worker pack station default values in order to achieve this. Out of the box containerization doesn't consider any of these default values specified for how the packing is performed.

Did you do any mods to allow Packed container picking and loading? Ideally we were hoping to use that work to allow us to utilize the staging area, but had to come up with a work-around since containerization wants to go to the final shipping location.

We created a modification where we captured a container id during picking.  The client had pre-printed container labels that had UPC codes on them.  Basically when they went to pick an item they would first scan the container id that the item was going into they would do that for each item.

We created a custom table that contained container and Item and quantity that the mobile device wrote to as the work line was being closed.

Then after the put line was executed and the work was closed we basically just automated the packing station.  In the background we entered the container (from our container table), put the items tied to that container (these were in our custom table as well), then closed the container.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the insight Scott. My fingers are crossed but I suspect we will end up doing a similar mod to give us access to some of the packing station functionality.
