Migrating Attachment from Azure blob to attachment management container

Hi All,

We are doing data migration from an old service management system to the Service module in CRM. The attachments from this old system lives in Azure blob. As will the attachments in CRM (We have Attachment managedment app configured by MS).

I am thinking of copying the attachments from one storage account to the other container and renaming the blob according to the plugin needs (IE GUID of the case, and update the metadata). However when i test this by manually uploading the file on Azure and renaming and updating the metadata, the file does not show in CRM.

Has anyone tried this? Any tips?

    Hey Jay.

    I've also tested the same. And it somehow makes sense:  if you look into the AttachmentExtractor or AttachmentManagement guides, the plugin will use the create/update/delete API calls to move the document to the Azure. If we copy the data between azure blobs containers, the API is not aware of update, so won't establish a relationship between the attachment and the record.  However, if instead of copying the documents between the azure blob storage containers, you either use the API or the User interface to create emails/Annotations with attachments, you'll see them automatically created on the corresponding azure blob storage.

    What exact metadata (name:value) pair is required ,so that attachments are linked to blob?
