All, I am a newcomer to the world of AX. My first questions are: 1. What is the required qualification for Microsoft Dynamics AX developer? 2. Where can I obtain study material that could prepare me for these certification tests? Regadrs Uri

    Hi,

You can find training materials and exam requirements on Microsoft Partnersource and Customersource (if you have access). Otherwise try to find training companies who provide these courses.

The development training is divided into four courses.

    - Development I in Micorsoft Dynamics AX2009 (course 80011)
    - Development II in Micorsoft Dynamics AX2009 (course 80012)
    - Development III in Micorsoft Dynamics AX2009 (course 80013)
    - Development IV in Micorsoft Dynamics AX2009 (course 80014)

    regards,

    André

    These courses are correct,

The first 2 are the prerequisite for the exams:

Exam MB6-819: AX 2009 Development Introduction

The 2nd two (Dev III and IV) are the prerequisite for the more complex AX exam:

Exam MB6-821: AX 2009 MorphX Solution Development

I would highly recommend getting several months experience with Ax before attempting the 2nd exam.

     regards.

     Andrew

I would agree that Development I and II with some basic knowledge of the system are a great starter but some experience is really required to get on with the exam associated with Development III and IV.

The book 'Inside Microsoft Dynamics AX' from Microsoft Press is a good starter point, if you've got access to the system this is a good read to familiarise yourself with the system and its architecture.

Remember also that in addition to the development courses there is the Enterprise Portal Development exam, all exam tracks are available on Microsoft's website and I would personally recommend after some experience of the system a fast-track training company, they are sometimes costly but deliver good results.

    Good luck!

    Hi Uri-k,

Pleased to hire that you are focused on Microsoft Dynamics AX Developer qualification.  We may have something that may help  you out - a fast track Dynamics AX Developer course.

Microsoft Dynamics AX Foundation Developer Course  - At the end of the course you will sit for the Exam MB6-819.

Microsoft Dynamics AX Advanced Developer Course - At the end of the course you will sit for the Exam MB6-821.

Let us know what you think.

I would just like to note, the "fast track" training just follows the 4 Microsoft courses mentioned at the top, but instead of the recommended 5 days for AX I and II and 5 for AX III and IV it does them in 4. I sat a fast track when I first came into AX Development myself, but now prefer and train customers on all 4 courses the standard way. Either way has it's merits and drawbacks.

As I previously suggested, i would highly recommend doing the first 2 using the Microsoft documentation and then sitting the intro exam, and then getting a few months experience while doing the 3rd and 4th courses before sitting the 2nd exam.

    Hi AjayG,

It would be best to create a new question on the forum and tell more about your background and interests. Do you want to become a developer or consultant? Then we can advise you more precisely.

Please use the forum correctly. If you ask a question it is not a suggested answer. A suggested answer is used to indicate your question could have the solution for a problem. As moderator I have corrected this for you. Also note that this thread is already 5 years old.
