adxportals 7.0 to adxportals 8.0

In my searching I have found that adxportals 7.0 is the last version of portals and that Microsoft portals 8.0 will be the latest. I also read there is some serious feature loss in the new Microsoft portals. I have also come across liquid templates. Currently we have very customized adxportal 7.0 portal pages. We are looking to upgrade to the latest portal that is supported in CRM 2016

Onprem ADX v7 is supported on CRM 2016.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 portals (8.x) is only available for D365 Online. You cannot have custom aspx page templates or user controls.

There will be a one time availability of v8.3 for on-prem released as open source, however, this will not be supported by Microsoft or upgraded. (Use at your own risk).
