When we were on GP 2010 we had GP and SQL installed on the same server. We had a consultant company migrate us to GP 2015r2 and they recommended having two servers - one for GP and one for the SQL server. So we have a GP server and a SQL server solely for GP. Is there any benefit to having it like this? It seems like things are slower than when we just had the one server. We will shortly begin a project to replace our utility billing software and are thinking about moving back to one server. What reasons might we want to leave them separate? What reasons might we want to go back to single server? Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.

I have the same question (0)We have organizations running in both types of scenarios - single Server and multi-Server. Do you only have one "GP Client", and that is what is running on your 2nd Server, or do you have a multi-user environment? I don't see any reason your system would be slower unless there was a configuration, hardware or network-related issue. Does the Server hardware meet the Server and Client Requirements set from Microsoft for GP 2015 R2 and your version of SQL?
