NAV 5.0 License

We are NAV 5.0 user since 2012. All thru out that time we are paying for its annual license and BREP.

But we never upgrade from NAV 5.0 (2007)

Our management plans to start from scratch with Dynamics 365 or SAP without carrying any data from NAV DB.

My question is, do we still need to keep paying for its annual license and BREP for this NAV 5.0

Since NAV 5.0 has already been out of support from MS and actually end-of-life.

I have the same question (0)

Hi, If you still need to open NAV 5.0, I think this still requires a license, if you only need to access the database, do not need to open the UI of NAV, this may not be necessary.
But I think it is better for you to consult Microsoft or your partner.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

End-of-life cycle and BREP both are different, you can use NAV 5.0, but there will not be any support for Bug or any new localization feature if needed, this is End-of-Life.

Dynamics 365,assuming Business Central, then you can upgrade your license, this is related to BREP.

Best way to get all those answer is to connect your Dynamics Partner.

    hi

Even though you are not planning to continue using NAV 5.0 or any of its data, it is still recommended to maintain your license and BREP until you have completely transitioned to a new system. This is because the license and BREP provide you with access to Microsoft support and software updates, which can be valuable during the transition period. Additionally, if you are audited in the future, you may be required to prove that you had the necessary licenses and support agreements in place during the time you were using NAV 5.0. Therefore, it is advisable to maintain your license and BREP until the transition to the new system is complete.

Until you decide what will be your next system i recommend you keep your BREP because that will give you right to upgrade your license to Business Central if you decide to move to the latest version.

If you decide to go to anything else than a Dynamics product you do not need BREP to continue doing lookups in your old NAV database.

But if you come from NAV you will probably want to to a deep dive into Business Central before you chose another product.
