How to Handle Modded APK Risks (e.g., Lucky Patcher) on Devices Linked to Business Central

Hello everyone,

We work with several small businesses that use Dynamics 365 Business Central, and a growing concern we’ve noticed is mobile device security—especially when employees install modded APKs like Lucky Patcher on their Android phones.

We even discussed this topic in detail on our blog: https://luckypatchersapk.tech/, where we highlighted how such tools can bypass licensing and potentially compromise sensitive business apps.

🔐 Question:

How are you all managing mobile device risks in companies where Dynamics apps (like Power Apps, Business Central mobile, etc.) are accessed via personal phones? Are you using any MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools or written policies?

Looking forward to learning how others are tackling this important (but often ignored) issue.

Thanks!

Maybe this will help guide your approach.

This is a valid and growing concern. Modded APKs like Lucky Patcher can pose serious security risks, especially when devices with such tools are used to access Business Central or other Microsoft 365 apps.

    Suggested Best Practices:

    1. Implement MDM (Mobile Device Management)

Use tools like Microsoft Intune to enforce:

      • App protection policies

      • Conditional access

      • Device compliance (e.g., block rooted or unauthorized devices

    2. Use Conditional Access Policies in Azure AD

Restrict access to BC and other apps unless the device is compliant and secured through MDM.

    3. Restrict Access to Company Apps on Personal Devices

Consider requiring access via corporate-managed devices only or through secure virtual environments.

    4. Document and Enforce Mobile Usage Policies

Have clear policies that prohibit the use of modded apps on devices with access to business systems. Regular training helps too.

    5.

Using both technical controls (Intune, Conditional Access) and policy enforcement is the best combination to mitigate these risks.
