Device licences - add devices to Intune?

Hello
I was informed (whether rightly or wrongly) that in order to use device licences for warehouse scanners, these warehouse scanning devices also need to be added to the  Dynamics 365 Business Central Device Users group in MS Entra as devices (in addition to the users who will have the device licences). The only way to add the devices to the user group is to register them on microsoft Intune first and then they can be added the user group in MS Entra. Can anyone help clarify this, please.
I have the same question (0)

The first part is correct.  Whatever credentials/users will be used to sign in to the Device (assuming they don't already have a Team/Full User license) will need to be added to the Security Group in MS Admin Center.

I haven't had to mess with Intune in order to accomplish the above setup, but we generally don't manage the client's MS Admin Center.

    Thanks all for the reply.
Yes, I had already created the security group and added the members in MS Entra. The question surrounds the need to add the devices to this security group as well.
@Ben Baxter : you mentioned the first part was correct. Did you mean simply adding the users to the security group or just adding the devices to the security group (without having to register them in Intune first)?

    Thanks
