Header Formatting Issue

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

We are trying to migrate from FRx to Management Reporter.  I have installed the latest version, 12.12.14001.  All is okay except for the Headers in some of our Reports.

Header Line 2  contains Current Fiscal Year and Last Fiscal Year, this titles are centered over these on the next Header Line,

We have on Header 3 line, the following

column 1 @CalMonthLong

column 2 text Ratio

column 3 text YTD

column 4 text Ratio

the column types are FD, Calc, FD and Calc, they appear under both Current and Last Fiscal Year.

When we generate the report it looks fine, we publish it but when we open it in Report Viewer and print it,

The text over columns 2, 3 and 4 shift up and are not aligned with the @CalMonthLong Value.

I have tried removing underline, not using @CalMonthLong but typing in the Month instead.  I have inserted a column between column 1 and 2 but nothing resolves this formatting quirk.

Anyone know of a resolution.

BTW, we were on 12.12.13001 and I was hoping upgrade would resolve bug.

thanks,

Is there anything in the Print Control Row or Column? This can sometimes change the formatting.

No, the columns did have a width and Wrap Text.  I change them to autofit and removed Wrap Text Print Control but still no dice.

Hmmm, then I'm not sure what it would be. I researched a little, and found this link in the forum (which you might have already seen and tested). It seems like there is a bug if you are using the shrink to page width option. I scrolled through the comments and this bug was still present as of last year so there is a possibility that it may be the same problem.

*Correction: The bug was still present as of 2014. I am still living in 2015 apparently.

Verify that the Fonts are the same in the column headers and that the Fonts exist on the current system and the system that the MR services are running on.

    - Try changing all of the Header fonts to 'Microsoft Sans Serif', by highlighting all Header rows and updating, to validate if it is a Font issue or not

I had checked the fonts earlier, they were all Arial, 12 point.  I changed the Header row font to MS Sans Serif, 12 point.  Same issue exists.  The service is is running on Server 2008.  The problem exists in all reports which have a 2 line headers, i.e. Header Row 2 contains Current Fiscal Year and Last Fiscal Year, Header Line 3 contains 4 columns, which have Header Line 2 centered across them.  I have changed the Spread From-To values, no underline, Justification... If Header line 2 exists it throws off the horizontal alignment of Header Line 3.

Is this how you have the Header Defined?

Current Fiscal Year is spread from B to E and Last Fiscal Year is spread from F to I.

    Header.PNG

I was able to reproduce this issue when I set the Headers to a 12Pt font.

What seems to be happening is that only the Header Cells that contain values are sizing to the font.  The rest are defaulting back to the 8.25 causing a miss-alignment for columns that

    The workaround, for this example:

    1. Add '@Blank' to Header1 Column C

    2. Spread this cell from C to E

    3. Format the Cell to 12Pt

A second workaround is to use the 'Reduce or enlarge to' option in the Report > Settings tab > Other button > Page Setup tab

    Hey Trenton,

You are correct on the spread B to E, I had a "Fill" column in between Current & Last Fiscal Year, second Spread was G to J.  The @Blank semi worked in that it only worked in 1st column, didn't affect other 2 that were included on spread.  If I put @Blank in those columns the skew in alignment was negligible but still there.  However the Reduce option under Report Settings did the trick.  I turned off Fit to Page and set it at 85%.

    Thanks Much!

@RM82.  Thanks for the response.  The Shrink to Page Width was a factor.  Trenton at GP in Fargo assisted with the specifics and the workaround as well.  Fix it Microsoft, LOL.  A lot of grief.
