CRM 2016 OnPremise only loads when numeric ip is used

Hi, I just installed Dynamics CRM 2016 OnPremise in a Windows Server 2016 server. Installation completed with no problems. I used domain accounts for CRM services and the IIS App Pool. Finally I added a SPN for the netbios, DNS and numeric IP so they are registered for HTTP service associated to the domain account used by the IIS app pool. On Deployment manager, the server netbios name is configured as the http URL. Finally, I added the URL (netbios and DNS ) to the IE Intranet zone.

But, when I try to load the CRM site using the netbios or DNS name for the site, I am being always prompted by credentials and no matter what I type, I always get an unauthorized error. I am pretty sure the domain credentials are fine. Using the numeric IP address assigned to the server have no problems, the CRM site loads fine and I am not being prompted by credentials.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong and as always, I would appreciate your valuable advise in this scenario.

Xavier

Thanks David. It was a problem with the loopback.

Are you testing from the machine in the same domain? If your CRM is in a different AD (test AD etc), then you may have to enable NTLM authentication in the IIS (or to configure ADFS for CRM). Kerberos probably won't work in that scenario.

Are you testing this using a browser on the server ? If so, the issue may be the loopback check - see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/926642/error-message-when-you-try-to-access-a-server-locally-by-using-its-fqdn-or-its-cname-alias-after-you-install-windows-server-2003-service-pack-1-access-denied-or-no-network-provider-accepted-the-given-network-path for how to resolve this.

If the issue happens if you connect from any client, then the problem is probably somewhere with Kerberos. Check if there are any Kerberos-related errors in the event log (check the application, system and security logs). You can also try changing the NTAuthenticationProviders setting in IIS
