How we can use product number instead of item number to add items in purchase order lines section of purchase order. Is there any way to do this.?

You can display product number on Purchase order and other documents by enabling the Show product numbers on forms setup on
Product information management -> Setup -> Product information management parameters

this is great, but how we can use product number field to select item, i want to use product number field instead of item number.
as per your guidance, this product number column is now visible on purchase order lines but disabled.
Hi Afazal,
Product numbers are product identification (ID) across the entire the system. While item number are legal entity based, and you perform every transaction in a legal entity. Therefore, you can not select product number on transactional documents. You select the item number and system returns the corresponding Product number.
