Updating Chart of Accounts Sub Categories and Dimensions

Hi All,

I have just imported the chart of accounts from a spreadsheet using the template / config package and the sub categories kept giving an error about an integer.. I was inserting the correct lookup value but it did not accept it, so I imported them without the sub cats in.

Is there an easy way to edit the existing data to get the sub cats in via edit in excel? When i try to do it from the main chart of accounts screen it seems to skip this field off?

Also I need assistance with matching the code to a Dimension, is there a way again of editing the new Chart of accounts and assigning a Dimension?

Thanks,

Andrew

RE: Updating Chart of Accounts Sub Categories and Dimensions

    Hi,

what I found very usefull when speaking about updating data is Edit in Excel or RapidStart. To update subcategories on the chart of accounts first you need to specify Account Category and then Account SubCategory.

I tested on a few examples in my BC and RapidStart did a job.

What is benefit of RapidStart that when you are in configuration package you can select which fields do you need, for example in my case where I imported g/l account number, description, account category and account subcategory I just selected this fields by going to line action Table -> Fileds and then just check this few fields. After that, I exported my chart of accounts to excel, update category and subcategory and imported it back to chart of accounts.

If you want to assign dimension you can use standard functionality called "Multiple dimensions" by selecting a chart of accounts for which you want to assign new dimension and dimension values, click on Navigate -> Account -> Dimensions -> Multiple dimensions.

If you want to do that via RapidStart you can export table 352 Default Dimension to Excel and there insert for Table No: 15 all chart of accounts and their dimension and dimension value.

    Best regards,
