security role privilege to control access to activitymimeattachment (attachments) on an activity.

I am pretty sure I would have found it already if it exists, but hoping I missed something.

I want to set a up a Security Role that has access to Activities (say, Email Message), but not to the Attachments.

is there a way to do this?

I see attachmebnts are stored in activitymimeattachment entity, so it does indeed seem to be stored in a separate entity, but I didn't see a Privilege for this in the Security Role set up.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

It's the "nested" permission and you can't configure it separately - similar to opportunity/opportunity products, quote/quote lines e.t.c.

    Hello Shannon,

There are no entity specific privileges for the ActivityMimeAttachment entity.

Please see the entity type information: docs.microsoft.com/.../activitymimeattachment

Usually, an attachment is under a note, so my suggestion is to set the permission to notes and the attachment will have the same security permission. I don't know if it's suitable for your requirements but it's something that  can be verified.

For us, it's in the email message entity, so I have been using Activities but I had a situation where we wanted to let them see the email but not the attachment.  The reason being is that attachments can contain ITAR-protected technical data.  But I just figured out how we could do it without issues by using Business Unit based security, thanks for the reply as you got me thinking about how I can do this!

Adding on to this - if you used SharePoint as an attachment storage rather than the activitymimeattachment, could you then specify that privilege to access separately?
